Sadiq @staticsafe

so after like 2 days of my latest kpop MV watching obsession

I think one of the things that distinguishes kpop MVs from other MVs is the top notch choreography (by that meaning the dancing)

I don't think American/Western
pop MVs focus on the dancing as much, I could be wrong here though, I don't actually watch that many non-kpop MVs

· Web · 0 · 2

also the focus on group acts vs. solo ones is another thing

the all girl/boy group has all but disappeared from American pop music hasn't it? They certainly aren't in their heyday like in the uhhh 90s?

all the big pop acts these days are solo

@staticsafe yeah, the last one we had was one direction, and they broke up a few years ago

unless of course you count the greatest boy band, brockhampton

@lycaon BROCKHAMPTON is amazing yeah but they seem to be an outlier

I don't think supergroups like that happened in hip-hop/rap since the Wu-tang Clan and the NWA, also in the 90s

@staticsafe i mean, there was odd future? kinda?

but yeah, hip-hop groups are way less prevalent than they used to be, which i think is a real bummer.

@staticsafe brockhampton does remind me of a lot of those like huge j-pop and k-pop girl groups more than it does of like, the backstreet boys
